My Student Teaching Site Visit
My visit that I took to Central Columbia was certainly the one that left the biggest impact on me after I walked out of the doors. I tend to reflect a lot on my experiences that I take part in, and for some reason this one stuck out to me, not only because it seemed like a prefect fit for me, but it was something about the educational space and this odd charisma that the people in the program created. Mr. Doug Brown, their ag instructor, introduced me to a lot of different people in a short 3-4 hour time span, and to be completely honest, a lot of them I will hardly recall, just because the overabundance of folks that the school district has to support the agriculture program.
On top of this, I got to see the students engaged and actively participating in making their final preparation for local competition later in the week, and these students seemed to have the right amount of guidance, yet their own responsibilities of holding one another accountable and ensuring they had everything that they needed to be successful. The ag student body is not only Central Columbia students built also transfer students from other schools like Southern Columbia. When the students come together and work together it is a sight to see, and when compared to my home high school that I came from, its was a much more productive and organized.
The last part that really stood out to me during my trip was the man running the show, Mr. Doug Browm. He has a lot of experience with the program and he is extremely passionate about the content and the students that he gets to work with. Him and I have already built a good relationship just from the one visit that we had.
